We check our phones because they are designed to be checked. Every notification is a tiny request for our attention, and most of us say yes without thinking.

Turn off non-human notifications

Keep notifications for messages from people. Turn off everything else: news, sales, likes, updates. Your phone should serve people, not algorithms.

Create phone-free zones

Bedroom. Dinner table. First hour of the day. Pick a few places where the phone does not belong. These become calm anchors in your day.

Check with intention

Before you open an app, ask: why am I here? If you don't have a clear answer, close it. Intention turns scrolling into a choice.

Digital boundaries are not about going offline forever. They are about being online on purpose.
